The IIA will offer a CIA challenge exam for qualifying members of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).
For many years IIA Global has had a strategic partnership with the ACCA, a global professional accountancy body with more than 200,000 fully qualified members. The partnership provides an opportunity for The IIA to advocate for the internal audit profession and extend our reach, as many ACCA members also work in internal auditing.
The challenge exam is a customized test that includes only the CIA content not already covered by the ACCA exam. This is not the first time The IIA has undertaken such an initiative with the ACCA. A CIA challenge exam was offered to ACCA members in November 2007 and 2015, resulting in more than 2,300 certification candidates. The challenge exam also helps to grow IIA membership, as membership in a local IIA Affiliate will be required for any ACCA candidate who is not a current IIA member.
The plan offers a bundle for qualifying ACCA candidates, which includes:
- CIA certification application.
- CIA exam registration fees.
- A customized CIA Learning System package to help candidates prepare for the exam.
- Membership to the local IIA Affiliate (for ACCA members who are not current IIA members).
IIA Global will begin accepting challenge exam candidates from 4 June through 31 August 2018. The challenge exam will be delivered between 1 October and 31 October 2018 (in English only).
