Internal Audit – Making a Strategic Impact is a 1½-day, in-person and highly interactive professional development training designed to help internal auditors strengthen their strategic impact, relevance, and credibility within their organizations. Led by internationally experienced trainer Sandro Boeri, the program combines facilitated discussions, practical tools, real-world cases, and interactive exercises to explore how Internal Audit can evolve from a primarily assurance-focused function into a trusted source of insight and strategic value.
Throughout the training, participants will explore Vision 2035 and the evolving role of Internal Audit, with particular attention to the strategic capabilities needed to meet changing organizational and Board expectations. The program examines how the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) can be applied with a strategic focus and how Internal Audit can better align its work with organizational priorities.
The training also addresses the practical and behavioural dimensions of making a strategic shift. Participants will consider how mindset, culture, professional judgement, and courage influence Internal Audit’s effectiveness, as well as how the audit process itself can be redesigned to generate greater strategic impact. Through practical exercises and discussion, the program explores the transition from assurance to insight and foresight, the development of advisory capabilities, and the importance of executive-level communication and influence.
A key focus of the training is finding the right balance between advisory opportunities and assurance responsibilities, while maintaining Internal Audit’s independence and objectivity. Participants will examine how to build credibility through stronger understanding and judgement, communicate more effectively with senior stakeholders, and influence decision-making without compromising the fundamental role of Internal Audit.
This training is particularly relevant for Chief Audit Executives, Internal Audit Managers, Internal Audit Directors, and experienced Internal Auditors who want to enhance the strategic contribution of their function and strengthen its position as a trusted partner to senior leadership and the Board.
By the end of the program, participants will have practical approaches for increasing Internal Audit’s strategic relevance, strengthening advisory capabilities, improving executive communication, and identifying concrete priorities for change within their own organizations. The training also includes personal reflection and action planning to help participants translate the learning into practical next steps.
The training offers 12 CPE credits and is delivered in Yerevan over 1½ days, on September 10–11, 2026. Participation fees are 140,000 AMD for IIA Armenia members and 170,000 AMD for non-members.
